Environmental efficiency is the lifeblood of the sustainable, competitive fish production and of the blue growth based on water resources. Raisioaqua aims to provide its customers with responsible solutions that also benefit the environment and society. As a result of the cooperation between operators, the environmental load of fish farming has halved in Finland in just over ten years. Raisioaqua’s product range gives the opportunity to go even further. As a forerunner, we help farmers to succeed in an eco-friendly way and consumers to make informed sustainable choices.
The Baltic Blend® trademark indicates that purified fish meal and oil made of the Baltic Sea fish are used as raw materials. Each fish kilo farmed with the Baltic Blend feed removes phosphorus from the Baltic Sea, recycles nutrients and significantly reduces the nitrogen load of fish farming. Baltic Blend is an excellent example of the circular economy on a local level. Marine raw materials from sustainably caught fish stocks naturally meet the nutritional requirements of fish.
Traditionally, marine fish oil has been used as an energy source in fish feeds. In Raisioaqua’s Opti feeding concept, fish oil is largely replaced by rapeseed oil. This significantly saves the valuable marine fish resources and is cost-effective for the farmer. The feed with more fish oil is only used at the final growth stage. This ensures that food fish accumulate adequate amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, important for human cardiovascular health. Consumers will have a top-quality end product proven healthy, and fish farmers can be deservedly proud of their products.
Raisioaqua’s feeds contain phytase enzyme that significantly reduces the nutrient load of fish farming on waterways. With phytase, fish can easier utilise feed phosphorus and otherwise poorly digestible plant-based phosphorus sources. In addition, feeds with phytase contain less phosphorus. Phytase also enhances the utilisation efficiency of fish protein.
